I am honored to have received the 2019 endorsement from the Nashville Firefighters IAFF Local 140. Our firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line every day to protect ours. They deserve to be able to live comfortably in the same city that they protect. My family have been in the Nashville Fire Department for over 45 years and three generations. The budget constraints for our city employees are very real for my family, and my priority is to fight for the people who make Nashville a safer place for all of us.
District 3 is the second largest district in Nashville. Because of that size, there are areas of our neighborhoods that are more rural and take longer for emergency personnel to arrive after a 911 call. Nashville Next proposed four new fire stations to handle the growth happening in our city, and one of the proposed stations was proposed for the northern area of District 3. Our city needs to prioritize the staffing, new equipment, and buildings that keep our residents safe. I will fight for a budget that pays our city employees, fully staffs our first responders, and provides the capital improvements budgets to create those additional fire stations across Nashville.
